JAMMU, Aug 18: As the two-month long Shri Amarnath yatra is entering into the concluding phase with last date of yatra just 11 days away, the number of pilgrims performing darshan in holy cave of Lord Shiva has also come to a low ebb now.
On the 48th day of darshan during the ongoing yatra 528 pilgrims paid obeisance to the naturally formed ice lingam in holy cave situated at an altitude of 3880 meters in Lidder Valley in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
With this 3,48,622 pilgrims have performed darshan in holy cave since the yatra started on July 1 from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here.
According to an official spokesman 384 pilgrims left for holy cave from Baltal base camp this morning. Out of them 273 went by foot while 11 1 by air. He said 253 pilgrims also left for cave shrine from Nunwan-Pahalgam base camp through traditional Chandanwari track.
Besides, the pilgrims having night halt at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni also left for their onwards journey early this morning.
The spokesman said the weather on both tracks of holy cave area was pleasant today.
The two-month long holy Amarnath yatra will culminate on Sawan Purnima falling on August 29 after the holy mace of Lord Shiva will be taken by Sadhus led by Mahant Dependera Giri to cave shrine.
