Srinagar, Mar 3: The Alsafa Colony in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district is facing severe waterlogging with locals accusing the administration of acting as a mute spectator.
The residents said the area is facing waterlogging for the last three decades due to ineffective drainage system, forcing the residents to live a miserable life. “Alsafa Colony (A) residents are living a miserable position as from the last 30 years, there has been no proper drainage in the area with the result the area often remains underwater,” a resident said.
Locals alleged that the Colony has been neglected by the successive Governments. “No official has ever visited us. The whole colony is under threat due to this women and children are worst affected as they are unable to venture out.
The locals requested the authorities to look into the matter. “We request the LG administration and DC Baramulla to look into it and solve our problem at the earliest so that we will not suffer in future,” locals said.
