JAMMU, Aug 19: Authorities in Poonch and Rawlakote today cleared all stranded persons of each other’s territory and allowed 37 citizens of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) to enter this side of the Line of Control (LoC).
Official sources said the Trade and Travel Facilitation Authorities received a green signal this morning to clear the stranded passengers in view of mounting tensions on the LoC due to continued firing by India and Pakistan for past 10 days.
Accordingly, all PoK citizens stranded on this side of the LoC were sent to Rawlakote, PoK in the weekly bus. Rawlakote authorities also sent all stranded persons of this part of the divided State to Poonch.
Apart from stranded passengers, 37 first time visitors from PoK also reached Poonch in the weekly bus, sources said.
The civilians have been stranded as cross/LoC trade and travel was suspended since August 5.
