JAMMU, May 9: Akhnoor zone swept Under-14 and Under-17 girls Kho-Kho and Kabaddi titles in the ongoing District Level Inter Zonal Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball Tournaments, which concluded at Govt HSS School Domana, here.
The competitions were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the patronage of Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K and under the Chairmanship of Rishi Kumar, Deputy Director. Sukhdev Raj Sharma DYSS Officer Jammu was the organizing secretary.
On the concluding day today, the tournaments were declared closed by Sunaina Mehta, SDM Marh, the chief guest on the occasion, who later-on distributed the certificates among the winners and runner-up teams.
Earlier, Ajeet Kumar Sharma, Principal HSS Domana presented the welcome address.
In Kho-Kho Under-17 girls final, Akhnoor Zone defeated Miran Sahib Zone by 6-5 points. Shafali and Kirti were the top performers.
Earlier, in semifinals, Miran Sahib Zone beat Bhalwal Zone by 1turn and 4 points and Akhnoor Zone got better of Jammu Zone by 1 turn and 5 points.
In Kho-Kho Under-14 girls final, Akhnoor Zone prevailed over Miran Sahib Zone by 2-1 points. Nancy and Achla were the performers of the day.
In semifinals, Miran Sahib Zone beat Jammu Zone by 1turn and 1 point and Akhnoor Zone outplayed Bhalwal Zone by 3-2 points.
In Kabaddi Under-17 girls summit clash, Akhnoor Zone drubbed Gandhi Nagar by 51-40 points, while in semifinals, Akhnoor Zone trounced Chowki Choura Zone by 26-10 points, while Gandhi Nagar defeated Bhalwal by 35-25 points.
In Kabaddi Under-14 girls’ final, Akhnoor Zone beat Chowki Choura by 34-15 points, while in semifinals, Akhnoor Zone beat Arnia Zone by 35-15 points and Chowki Choura got better of Bhalwal Zone by 38-19 points.
Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Bhalwal Zone by 2-1 sets in Volleyball Under-17 girls, while in semifinals, Gandhi Nagar Zone defeated Miran Sahib by 2-0 sets and Bhalwal Zone got better of Chowki Choura by (2-0) sets.
In Volleyball Under-14 girls final, Gandhi Nagar Zone beat Satwari Zone by (2-0) sets.
The matches were officiated by Jasdev Singh, Ashok Kumar, Bua Ditta, Sanjeet, Anubhav, Ram Murti, Tilak Raj, Gulveer Rampal, Sham Krishan, Ramesh, Sham Singh, Balwan, Ajmer, Poonam, Raman, Jagjeet, Prithpal and Ravinder Singh.
