BANGALORE, Aug 19: Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Chief of the Air Staff and Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) will inaugurate the 54th Annual Conference of Indian Society of Aerospace Medicine (ISAM) at the Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) here on August 22.
Many Senior officers of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, 200 National and 10 International Delegates are participating in the Conference, according to a release here today. The Prestigious ‘Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee Memorial Oration’ will be delivered by Dr Prabhat Kumar, IAS, Director General of Civil Aviation, on ‘Civil Aviation in India’ on August 22.
The ‘Air Vice Marshal Srinagesh Memorial Oration’, in the honour of Air Vice Marshal M M Srinagesh, an illustrious luminary in the field of Aviation Medicine, will be delivered by Dr Jarnail
Singh, Chairman, Civil Aviation Medical Board, Singapore on ‘Fatigue Risk Management in Airlines Operations’. While Air Vice Marshal (Retd) A K Sengupta will speak on ‘Fear of Flying’, Wing Commander (Retd) Surendra Sodhi on ‘A Perspective
on Aeromedical Risk Management in Civil Aviation-Focus on Future Trends’.
The Conference will be a melting pot of research conducted at IAM as well as on the flightline at various Air Force bases across
the country.
Issues that shall be discussed during the Conference include Flight Safety, Acceleration Physiology, High Altitude Physiology, Long Duration Flying, Flying Clothing etc. The theme for the Conference, in which a large foreign delegates are participating, has been chosen as ‘Opportunities Sans Boundaries’.
The scientific sessions and panel discussions, during the three day Conference, covers a wide variety of topics including aerospace physiology especially high altitude physiology, clinical aviation medicine, operational aerospace medicine, aviation psychology and unique aspects of Space Medicine. The scientific papers presented in the Conference would be followed by interactive sessions with the delegates. The exchange of information, ideas and expertise in this forum would go a long way in formulating the direction of aerospace research and policies.
