AG XI lifts CGEWCC T20 title

JAMMU, Apr 15: The Accountant General (AG) XI retained the title trophy of the Twenty20 Cricket tournament, which was part of annual sports meet of Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC), outplaying Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR) combine in a one-sided final played at GGM Science College Hostel Ground, here today.
It was an absolute 10-wicket win for the star-studded side of AG XI. Earlier, the DD-AIR combine batting first bowled out for a small total of 85 runs in 18.2 overs. Rajesh Singh and Majid Pandit were main scorers with 24 and 23 runs in their respective accounts. From AG XI, Ashwani Gupta clinched four wickets for eight runs in four overs he bowled. Rahil Singh and Rajan Singh shared two wickets each.
In reply, AG XI, chased the 86 runs target in just seven overs with Vimarsh Kaw and Sahil Bhalwal making 25 and 17 runs respectively.
Today’s match was officiated by Sanjeev Kumar and Shashi Jamwal as umpires while Rattan Lal acted as scorer.
In the final, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) Northern Command and chairman of the CGEWCC, N Neihsial (IDAS) was chief guest, who interacted with the finalist teams and wished them success amidst advice for playing the game in true spirit of sports.
Director Engineering, Jammu Doordarshan, Ravi Kumar, Deputy Director, Programming, Doordarshan, Anjali Sharma, Director GSI, JR Thappa, Director CWC, SK Shukla, Deputy Director, CWC, Manoj Ji and Assistant Controller of Defence Accounts, Sahil Goel were among special guests.
Prominent among those present were chairman of sports committee of CGEWC C, BS Bhan, Mahesh Sharma, Anirudh Sharma, Dr Sharma, Mohinder Kumar, Parveen Kumar, Rajinder Charangoo, Ashok Chadha and Sham Lal Tandotra.
