JAMMU, Mar 2: Former Defence Minister and MLA Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today said that the Centre must take note on prevailing situation in Kashmir in the backdrop of Parliament Attack convict Afzal Guru’s hanging.
“The Centre must take note of the happenings (in Kashmir) over the Guru issue, especially when the tourist season is round the corner,” Mr Gupta in a statement issued here said.
“If the Government will not take immediate steps, an ugly situation can end up marring the chances of a good tourist season,” he said.
He accused both the Centre and the State Governments of not reacting to the situation in the Valley and said that it can harm interest of the people in the State.
He said that some political parties were misleading the people on the Guru issue for their vote bank politics knowing fully that he was involved in attack on Indian Parliament and the Government provided him every opportunity to defend himself.
He said any delay on the part of Centre to act with a firm hand will aggravate the situation further.
