After the recent sugar price hike, onion prices have added to consumers’ woes, with retail prices in Jammu rising to ₹70/kg. The wholesale price at Narwal Mandi stood at about Rs 50/kg today. Traders attribute the surge to rain-damaged crops and reduced supplies from Iran, Afghanistan and Egypt.
