Advisor Sharma takes stock of developmental works at Leh

LEH, July 15: Advisor to Governor, K.K. Sharma convened a meeting with the district officers to take stock of the ongoing projects and other major issues concerning developmental works in the Leh district today.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Ladakh, Saugat Biswas, District Development Commissioner, Leh, Avny Lavasa, ADDC, Leh Moses Kunzang, SE PWD, SE PDD, SE PMGSY and all the district officers of Leh district.
DC, Leh gave a detailed presentation on the Capex budget outlay, various centrally sponsored schemes, physical achievements during 2018-19, physical status of components under different schemes and report on PWD, PHE and power sector including LREDA. The issue of shortage of manpower in various departments was highlighted and request was made to create posts for LREDA considering its vital role in providing electricity to remote villages through solar.
DC also apprised about the three big projects to be taken under languishing which include construction of open stadium and youth hostel, construction of cold storage with 1000 metric tons capacity and Ice Hockey Rink of which 30% work is completed.
Addressing the meeting, the Advisor urged the officers to do constructive engagement and try to solve the issues at local level. He asked them to do a constant follow up for proper procedure in getting technical and administrative approval to get funds sanctioned. He stressed on ensuring correct execution of every project with precise expenditure of fund, photographs of work status of project and its quality assurance.
The Advisor enquired in detail to the issues of PHE, PDD, LREDA and other departments. He also enquired about work status, problems and challenges in carrying out different projects He urged the officers to complete the projects keeping close coordination with allied departments and to take scientific and technical consultation and help in finding solutions to different engineering issues. He gave assurance to extend full support in carrying out the developmental works in the district to benefit the local community at large.
Meanwhile, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC, Leh Gyal P. Wangyal called on Advisor to highlight various issues concerning the Leh district.
On the occasion, the CEC apprised the Advisor with demand for expeditious consideration of release of pending wages and regularization case of daily rated workers and casual labours of PHE Division, Leh and PWD circle, Leh.
He also briefed the Advisor about the need for permanent restoration of flood-damaged infrastructure and restoration of nallahs of Leh district, creation of hydraulic units in Leh, to consider projects submitted under languishing projects from Leh district as a special case, timely release of funds under CRF, clearing of work done liability under Cities and Towns, sanction of funds for deep bore well hand pumps to be allotted to the councillors to mitigate drinking water problem.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the issues put forth by the CEC LAHDC and other Councilors. He assured to look into the matters and address them at the earliest possible.
Meanwhile, various delegations and public representatives from the district also met the Advisor and apprised him with various issues of public importance.
The delegations which called on the Advisor Sharma included Ladakh Gompa Association, District Congress Committee Leh , BJP Unit Leh, Nubra delegation, Municipal Committee Leh, and State Government Employees Association, Leh.
The delegations and associations put forth memoranda to the Advisor and sought redressal of their projected issues.
