Advisor reviews status of mega projects in Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 19: Advisor to Governor B B Vyas today chaired a meeting to review the status of mega developmental projects coming up in Jammu city and its peripheries.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, Vice-Chairman JDA, P.S Rathore, Director Tourism O P Bhagat, Director Floriculture Babila Rakwal, Joint Director Geology and Mining Manisha Sarin and senior functionaries from JMC and other concerned departments.
While reviewing the status of projects undertaken by different departments, the Advisor called for speeding up the pace of work to complete these within the stipulated time frame. He called for furnishing status reports to the Government on regular intervals depicting the work done, adding that it will facilitate proper monitoring and filling up gaps and remove bottlenecks, if any.
Seeking progress report on retrieval of the encroached State land, the Div Com gave details of achievements since the launch of anti- encroachment drive. He informed that the local administration has made a usage plan for the optimal use of the retrieved land.
The Div Com also briefed the Advisor about the status of airport extension project.
About rehabilitation of shopkeepers and vendors displaced with the start General Bus Stand modernization project, the JMC authorities informed that the construction work on 22 shops is in progress at the identified place.
The Advisor directed the JMC to timely complete the work and furnish status report within a week.
It was also informed that the shops and khokhas in front of Government Medical College Jammu have been removed. The Advisor asked the concerned to ensure that these might not reemerge in the future.
Meanwhile, the Advisor also reviewed the status of work of road projects coming up in the peripheries of Jammu city. The meeting was informed that the work on all road projects in progress.
