Advisor Narula takes stock of public grievances

LEH, Mar 7: Advisor Umang Narula today convened a meeting to address various grievances of Trans Sengee-La region viz power, electricity, road connectivity, telecom facilities and heli services etc.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas, Commandant 16 BRTF M K Jain, General Manager BSNL Phuntsog Dorjey and other senior officers from Army and civil administration.
The Nambardar Yulchung Nyraks apprised the Advisor of the various grievances of Trans Singee-la. Commandant 16 BRTF apprised the Advisor of the status of Nimoo -Padum- Darcha (NPD) road and stated that the road will be made functional this year. He also informed the Advisor of the status of Wanla -Sumdho -Yulchung road and stated that the stretch of 80 km of this road is currently unsurfaced. The Advisor asked BRO to submit a proposal for upgradation, improvement and snow clearance works of this road.
During the review of electricity facilities, it was informed that all the villages of Singee-laLalok except for two villages are being connected with the grid under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY). It was also informed that the 11 KVA transmission line till Sirsir-la will be charged by end of June this year. The Advisor instructed for early formulation of project to undertake the left over works for connecting the remaining villages.
Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas informed that village Lingshed is connected through VSAT and people are availing internet connectivity and video call facilities from the village. He stated that the possibility of shifting some unutilized VSATs to the network shadow villages of Trans-Sengee-La will be explored to provide an immediate short term solution.
The Advisor asked the General Manager BSNL to inform the Administration regarding proposals submitted to Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for providing of telecom facilities to the uncovered villages of Trans-Sengee-La.
The Nambardar Yulchung Nyraks thanked the UT administration for starting Helicopter Services to Lingshed and requested the Advisor to revise the present fares for these heli-services. Advisor instructed Divisional Commissioner Ladakh to examine the issues for appropriate action.
