Advisor Narula reviews functioning of hospitals, COVID containment measures

LEH, May 1: Advisor Ladakh Umang Narula convened a meeting today to review the status of COVID-19 containment measures and functioning of healthcare facilities.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Leh Sachin Kumar, Director Health Services Ladakh, Dr Phunchok Angchuk, Dr Dorjey Motup Chief Medical Officer Leh, Dr Samphel Medical Superintendent SNM Leh and Dr Mohd Iqbal (designated Surveillance officer for COVID-19).
Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner Kargil and Dr Ibrahim Khan Chief Medical Officer Kargil participated in the meeting over video conference.
The meeting discussed the issue of screening of people entering Ladakh through various entry points. The Advisor issued instructions for establishment of screening facilities at Khalsti and Upshi for screening all persons entering Leh. He further asked Director Health to ensure screening of all the people at Jammu before boarding them on the buses for Ladakh.
CMO Leh briefed the Advisor that rigorous contact tracing and intensive testing is being done in all the five containment zones. It was informed that 100% sampling has been completed in Saboo containment zone and all samples have tested negative, while in the remaining zones it will be completed soon.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil informed that testing has been completed in Shakar Chiktan containment zone and in the other two containment zones it is underway. He also said that the medical staff, media persons and deliverymen providing door to door delivery of goods in the containment zones will also be tested.
