LEH, June 16 : Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Bhupesh Chaudhary, chaired a review meeting to assess the arrangements being made for the proposed visit of the Vice President of India to the Union Territory of Ladakh in connection with the celebration of International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026.

The meeting focused on evaluating the preparedness of various departments and agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the high-profile visit and the successful observance of International Yoga Day.

Detailed discussions were held on security arrangements, venue readiness, transportation, accommodation, protocol requirements, traffic management, medical preparedness, power supply, identity card issuance, and other logistical aspects.

Reviewing the proposed action plan, the Secretary sought updates on participant registration, expected turnout, and lessons from previous editions of the International Day of Yoga celebrations.

He stressed the importance of meticulous planning, effective inter-departmental coordination, and timely completion of all arrangements to ensure a safe, well-organized, and inclusive event.

Chaudhary directed the Public Works Department, Rural Development Department, and other concerned agencies to ensure that all venue infrastructure, including sanitation facilities, washrooms, and drinking water points, is fully functional and maintained to the highest standards.

He also reviewed arrangements related to participant kits, yoga mats, refreshments, and transportation facilities.

The meeting also reviewed stage management, seating plans, public address systems, ceremonial proceedings, cultural components, and arrangements for dignitaries.

Chaudhary further directed officials to highlight the achievements of Ladakh’s sportspersons associated with Khelo India and explore avenues to recognize their contributions during the event.

Deputy Commissioner Leh briefed the meeting on the proposed stage layout, programme sequence, seating arrangements, and other logistical preparations, assuring that all departments are working in close coordination to ensure the successful celebration of International Day of Yoga 2026.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Leh, Chief Engineers of PWD and PDD, representatives from the Police, ITBP, School Education Department, and other concerned departments and agencies.
