JAMMU, Oct 19: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC) and General Secretary Peoples Democratic Party Surinder Choudhary said that the present administration and its policies were pushing youth of Jammu and Kashmir to walls adding to their alienation.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is now directly ruling Jammu and Kashmir, is more focused on dividing the people in the name of region, cast and religions and taking unemployed educated and uneducated youth for ride”, Choudhary said. He was addressing a large number of youth who joined Peoples Democratic Party at a function held here.
The newly joined youth were motivated by Rajat Gupta, Sachin Bhagat and Parth Sharma.
Among others the function was also attended by RK Bali, Satpal Charak, Narinder Singh Raina, Varinder Singh Sonu, Sunil Bhat, Peter, Anita Thakur, Tazeem Dar, Ahsan Mirza, Sukhvinder Singh and Daljeet Singh Dicky.
The former MLC said that the administration has turned a deaf ear towards the growing problems of all sections of society. “However, the youth are the worst victims. While the unemployment was at its peak there seems to be no initiative by the administration to address the issue”, he said.
“The youth of the erstwhile State is today frustrated and feel humiliated. The job opportunities have been seized, the private sector has crumbled, the higher education chances have vanished and instead of providing them solace the BJP run Government at the centre has opened jobs and education sector for rest of the country”, he added.
He said that business and trade of Jammu has suffered tremendously in last more than a year due to which even the private sector has become out of bound for the technically trained youth. “The only job advertisement in last one year was for the class fourth category by the Government, selection process of which has also been put into on hold.
