JAMMU, Aug 24: ADGP Security J&K Dr SD Singh Jamwal inaugurated newly installed facilities at security Transport Workshop, here today.
These facilities included machines-Wheel balancer machine, tyre changer machine, car washer, AC recovery and refilling machine, vacuum cleaner along with freshly purchased tool kits at shop floor of Security Transport Workshop, Sidhra.
On the occasion, the technical team demonstrated the functioning of these newly installed machines. They have been imparted with the necessary trainings. To save costs, trolleys and minor working infrastructure has also been fabricated in-house at the workshop and was laid out during the inspection.
Two premier Security Transport workshops of Jammu & Kashmir Police functioning at Jammu and Srinagar are catering to the repairs and maintenance of all vehicles deployed with VVIPs, political activists as well as senior functionaries of J&K Government. Both the workshops are providing regular servicing, wear and tear maintenance of these vehicles. Both the workshops have been put to fast infrastructure and skill up gradation.
New initiatives have been conceived to induct new tools and install machinery with latest technology. Funds worth more than Rs 19 lakh have been allotted for procurement of machinery for STWS J&K by PHQ while nearly equal amount has been projected for up-gradation of the premier wing of J&K Police. Wheel alignment machine and pneumatic tools set are in the process of procurement which are likely to be installed in the very near future. These machinery and tools are reducing the human efforts of skilled manpower resulting in increased output of labour work. At the same time, savings will acme more in-house repairs and maintenance of the motor vehicles fleet of the security wing of J&K police.
The skill up-gradation of manpower will also help in optimum utilization of the resources. Beyond these tools, training of mechanics, camp workshop has been planned for skilled workers and with the companies to impart maintenance know-how of latest models of Scorpio vehicles including bullet resistant models.
SD Singh Jamwal appreciated the new initiatives taken up by Shailender Singh SSP STWS J&K and his team for efficient working of the workshop.
Swaran Singh Kotwal SSP Security Jammu, Ranjit Singh Sambyal SSP Tech SHQ J&K, Ravinder Pal Singh SSP SO to ADGP Security, Ashish Rathore CPO SHQ and Manzoor Hussain DySP Workshop Jammu were also present on the occasion.
