SRINAGAR, Nov 28: Adam Ishaq and Hadiya emerged as the men’s and women’s singles champions in the 27th Srinagar District Badminton Championship 2020-21 played at the New Indoor Hall at Pologround here, today.
Adam defeated defending champion Ibrahim Qureshi in a pulsating final played today. Adam took the first game by 21-14 but Ibrahim clawed his way back in the second game and tied the match by winning 21-18.
However, Adam upped his game and shut the doors on the defending champion in the decider, winning 21-17. Hadiya had defeated Huda in a one-sided women’s final on Friday.
Hadiya, partnering with Dua, also won the doubles title, defeating Safia-Sadiya pairing.
Adam, who joined hands with Amil, also won the men’s doubles title, defeating Nisar Anim and Yawar in the final.
In other categories, Daarim Khan emerged as the winner in under-10 boy’s category while he was runner up in the under-13 boy’s category, losing to Muraad.
While Haya won the under-13 girls category, Ishreen Kour won the under-15 girls categories.
The tournament was organised by Srinagar Badminton Association. Divisional Sports Officer Nuzhat Ara was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
