SRINAGAR, Dec 18: Former Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah today lashed out at the PDP-BJP Government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for an acute governance crisis that has forced people to come out on the roads across the State.
Interacting with several public delegations at his constituency office in Beerwah today, Omar Abdullah said the acute governance crisis and present situation of maladministration was PDP’s gift to the people of the State.
“The power woes and the NFSA-related ration crisis in the State are unprecedented. People are out on the roads screaming for their basic rights as the Government has failed completely within the first 10 months of its tenure. Beerwah constituency for instance has been pushed into darkness as the electricity cuts here are unprecedented and back-breaking, especially in the harsh cold of the winter. There is a shortage of essential commodities as the Government has broken all records of its demonstrated insensitivity by reducing the previous ration allocation of the people under the pretext of the NFSA – an act that we had opposed for the State”, Omar said.
The NC working president and MLA Beerwah also castigated the administration for neglecting Beerwah constituency and dispensing governance selectively based on its partisan political interests.
“The people of Beerwah understand how they are being persecuted and robbed of their basic rights and I assure them that I will continue to work for their rights and will continue to fight for the development of Beerwah”, Omar added.
On this occasion Omar Abdullah released an amount of Rs 20 lakhs from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the improvement of power infrastructure, drainage and link roads in the constituency. This includes an exclusive amount of fifty thousand rupees for patients to buy essential medicines in times of need. The NC president was accompanied by senior party leaders, activists and office bearers during his review of the constituency.
