JAMMU, Nov 30: ‘Actors at Work’- a programme organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, concluded here today with a daylong performance at Deewaan-e-Aam, Mubarak Mandi Complex, Jammu.
Eighteen young actors, who included Shazia Batool, Zeeshan Budoo, Varun Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar Mehra, Ravinder Manhas, Abhishek Mahotra, Anmol Sharma, Max Thakur, Ronak Pandita, Gazalgeet Kour, Rajan Thakyal, Nitin Manhas, Usha Rani, Atul Sharma, Ashiq Hussain Bhat, Sachin Sharma, Vicky Kaw and Namit Dubey performed for hours together braving the fatigues and tiredness.
This unique concept of ‘Actors at Work’ was brought for Jammuites by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) which invited Asheish Nijhawan- a product of London International School of Performing Arts with the latest developed techniques of actors preparedness.
The London International School of Performing Arts has devised various new methods which he not only shared but further explored while working with actors in ICCR Jammu’s ‘Actors at Work’ programme.
Reflecting upon the work done during this unique exercise of full five days, Balwant Thakur, the Regional Director, ICCR Jammu said that ICCR takes pride in exposing the younger generation of Jammuites to the global concepts of theatre which will have the lasting impact in revolutionizing this region’s cultural and theatre movement.
Earlier in the day, the ‘Actors at Work’ started performing exercises and theatre games and slowly transited the historical space ‘Deewaan-e-Aam’ to a new world of artistic expressions by utilizing the latest nuances of theatrical techniques.
The passersby at the Mubarak Mandi Complex after witnessing such an unusual happening at the platform of Deewaan-e-Aam could not restrain themselves from coming close to the actors to feel and sense the intimate theatrical actions.
The programme was coordinated by Meenakshi Dogra, Reena Slathia, Mohd Yaseen and Vishal Sharma.
