ACB chargesheets R&B XEn in trap case

Srinagar, Nov 19: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) today produced chargesheet against a former Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora in trap case in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Baramulla.
The ACB said that the charge-sheet was produced in the case FIR 08/2019 u/s 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2),4-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act Samvat 2006 of P/S ACB Kashmir against Abdul Aziz Bhat, the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora.
Detailing the case, the ACB said that an instant case was registered on the basis of a written complaint lodged in Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau wherein it was alleged that the complainant has executed and completed the works of R&B Division, Bandipora, “but Abdul Aziz Bhat, the then Executive Engineer Bandipora was not releasing the payments.”
The complainant, the ACB said, requested him several times, “but he did not release the payment of Rs 5,18,089 without bribe. Finally, the Executive Engineer demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for release of the payment of bill for Rs.5,18,089”
After registration a case FIR No 08/2019 P/S ACB, the Bureau said, a trap team was constituted and the services of independent witness were utilized.
“On 26.04.2019, the accused Abdul Aziz Bhat, the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Bandipora was arrested red-handed while demanding and accepting an amount of Rs.20,000 money from the complainant,” it said.
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the aforementioned accused public servant for launching prosecution and the charge sheet was produced in the court of law, ACB said.
