JAMMU, Dec 21: The three-day State conference of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad is going to be held from January 5 at Kathua wherein ABVP activists from all over Jammu Kashmir are going to assemble for deliberations over the issues confronting students and youth of the State.
This was informed by ABVP State secretary, Varsha Jandial, while addressing a press conference along with ABVP State joint secretary G M Ali and Jammu Mahanagar secretary Piyush Khajuria, here today.
Varsha said that the conference would particularly focus on the two resolutions, one on present political scenario of the State and other on present educational scenario of the State.
Lamenting that the education sector in J&K was  more or less getting worsened because of delay in admission and result process along with the jumbled academic calendar in State universities, the ABVP leader demanded a ‘surgical strike’ to streamline the system,
“The continuous and frequent exams   besides non-adherence of  minimum 180  days class work as per UGC norms in colleges is  proving semester system a total failure in the State while the institutions are lacking basic infrastructure as well as required staff,” she said and demanded old system of examination.
The ABVP leaders expressed serious concern over purported lapsing of funds by the Universities and grilled the PDP- BJP Government for its alleged insensitive attitude towards the education sector.
“The State Government seems handicapped in generating the employment avenues while SRO- 202 depicts anti-youth mentality of this regime,” she said and also drew attention towards other alarming issues in the State, which need immediate attention.
“ABVP is going to discuss all these issues in the State conference in which students from Kashmir, Ladakh and Jammu are going to participate on January 6, 6 and 7,” Varsha said.
