Abolish Custodian Deptt: Manjit

VIJAYPUR, Jan 27: Former Minister and District Congress, president, Samba Manjit Singh today appealed Governor Satya Pal Malik to abolish Custodian Department.
The demand was raised in a meeting of Congress workers held at village Gagor. Speaking on the ocassion, Manjit Singh said that Congress worked for weaker section soon after getting Independence from Britishers.
He said that those migrates to Pakistan seventy years back, but those holding their land are not given right on property. “These poor people were given land by the Govt, and Custodian Department is adamant not to give them property rights even as seven decades have passed,” Manjit said.
Singh said that people who migrated to Pakistan from plains of Jammu left behind their properties and settled in the neighbouring country where they were accommodated and given right on properties left by those people who left Pakistan in 1947 and came to India.
“It is shocking that Govt turning blind eyes to the just and genuine demands of the refugees and poor people who are allotted Custodian land,” he said.
He demanded that there is no need of Custodian department and hence, it should be abolished for the welfare of farmers and poor people. He said the department has not served good to the people.
He asked the party workers to increase public contact and hold door-to-door campaign to spread agenda of secularism, development without bias and national security.
Those who spoke on the occousion included Capt (Retd) Mohan Lal Sharma , Babble Gupta, Rajan Sharma, Raj Kumar Bhagat, Balawant Singh Nagra, Wazir Singh Jangi, Ram Murti Sharma, Tilak Raj Sharma, Surinder Pal, Inder Paul and Sham Lal Bhagat.
