JAMMU, July 24: Splendid knocks by Musaif Ajaz and Aarav Mahajan helped Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) Juniors to outplay MIER Cricket Academy in a virtual semifinal and seal berth in the finals of the ongoing Hot Weather Cup Under-15 Cricket Tournament, being organized by KCCC at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Now, in the summit clash KCCC Juniors will take on Sidhant Cricket Academy to vie for the top honours.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, MIER Cricket Academy scored a fighting total of 158 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Dikshant Kundal top scored with 61 runs, while Aditya Abrol and Sachin Sharma contributed 36 and 24 runs to the total respectively. Ashim Nanda was the most successful bowler from KCCC Juniors, who took 3 important wickets, while Sachin and Agastya claimed one wicket each. Praful Dhar, Dhruv Parmar, Udhay Pratap Singh and Dhruv Parmar though remained wicket-less but bowled economically and played a vital role in restricting the opposition to a modest total of 158 runs.
In reply, KCCC Juniors chased the target in 33.3 overs by losing just 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets and qualified for the finals. Musaif scored magnificent 83 runs, studded with 9 boundaries, while Aarav contributed brilliant unbeaten 42 runs to the winning total. Dhruv also chipped in with unbeaten 13 runs. From MIER Cricket Academy, Puniya Raina took both the wickets to fall. The match would have been a low scoring affair had the fielders of both the teams exhibited good fielding skills. Both the teams dropped good number of catches.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Ashok Singh and Shiv Kumar, while the Tournament is being held under the chairmanship of Ankush Abrol, former Member Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Working Committee Member Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
