JAMMU, June 8: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu inaugurated a five-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Foreign Exchange Dealing and Risk Management, here today at its Jagti Campus.
Prof Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, presided over the inaugural ceremony, which was graced by Prof Prashant Misra, Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy; Programme Directors, Prof Pranab Ranjan Das and Dr Praveen Kumar.
The training programme witnessed participation from 12 banking professionals representing various banks from across India, creating a diverse learning environment that facilitated the exchange of experiences, best practices, and perspectives on foreign exchange operations and risk management in the banking sector.
The programme, scheduled from 8th to 12th June 2026, has been designed to equip participants with contemporary knowledge and practical insights into foreign exchange markets, risk assessment, hedging strategies, and financial decision-making in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
Delivering the inaugural address, Prof Nitin Upadhyay, Dean Academics, underscored the growing importance of foreign exchange management in the context of globalization, international trade, and financial market integration. He noted that organizations today operate in an environment characterized by dynamic currency movements and evolving financial risks, making specialized knowledge in foreign exchange dealing and risk management indispensable for professionals and decision-makers. He further stated that IIM Jammu remains committed to fostering continuous learning and capacity building through impactful executive education programmes that address emerging business realities and contribute to organizational excellence.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Prashant Mishra, Chairperson, Executive Education, IIM Jammu, emphasized that executive education initiatives at IIM Jammu are designed to empower professionals with cutting-edge knowledge, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities necessary for navigating contemporary business challenges.
Welcoming the participants, Prof Pranab Ranjan Das, Programme Director, provided a comprehensive overview of the five-day training programme, outlining its structure, key learning outcomes, and practical orientation.
The inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Praveen Kumar, Programme Director.
