JAMMU, June 8: Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Poonam Sethi, accompanied by Dr Rashmi Sharma (Epidemiologist), concluded a two-day review visit to Poonch and Rajouri districts to assess healthcare delivery, implementation of health programmes and patient care services.
During the visit, Dr Sethi conducted a detailed inspection of District Hospital Poonch, reviewing the functioning of various wards and healthcare facilities. She interacted with doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel, stressing the need for professionalism, punctuality, compassionate behaviour and patient-centric service delivery.
The Director also reviewed the functioning of the Assured Treatment Facility (ATF), Dialysis Unit and other critical healthcare services. A high-level review meeting was later held at District Hospital Poonch, where Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan presented an overview of the district’s performance under various national and UT health programmes.
Dr Sethi directed health authorities to strengthen monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and ensure regular training programmes for healthcare staff to enhance the effective implementation of various schemes. She was informed that the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at District Hospital Poonch are functioning efficiently and providing specialized care to newborns and children.
Reviewing dialysis services, she instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the operationalisation of Dialysis Units at SDH Mendhar, SDH Surankote and SDH Mandi to improve access to critical healthcare services in remote areas.
Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan assured the Director that the district health administration would continue its efforts to improve healthcare indicators and strengthen service delivery across Poonch.
As part of the tour, Dr Sethi also visited PHC Surankote and PHC Thanamandi in Rajouri district, where she reviewed healthcare facilities and interacted with local health officials regarding service delivery and programme implementation.
