KARGIL, May 23: Under the aegis of Operation Sadbhawna, the Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army organised the Batalik Volleyball Championship in the Batalik region of Ladakh, which concluded today with a thrilling final.
Eight teams from different villages participated in the week-long tournament, promoting sportsmanship, unity and healthy competition among local youth. The final match was played between Team Sarchay and Team Silmoo, where Team Sarchay emerged victorious with an impressive performance.
The concluding ceremony was attended by Councillor, Feroz Khan as chief guest, while the Colonel of the Garhwal Regiment of the Indian Army graced the occasion as guest of honour.
A large number of villagers and sports enthusiasts witnessed the final and appreciated the Indian Army’s efforts in engaging youth through constructive activities. Locals expressed gratitude, stating that such events help keep youngsters away from drug abuse and promote fitness, discipline and teamwork.
