JAMMU, Mar 9: 8th Regional Conference of CPI(M) Jammu was inaugurated by MY Tarigami, State secretary of the party and MLA at Jammu today.
The delegate session was presided over by a presidium consisting of Sham Prasad Kesar, Om Prakash, and Kishore Kumar.
Condolence resolution to pay tributes to the departed leaders, party activists and flood victims was moved by Sham Prasad Kesar. The delegates condoled the untimely demise of senior party leader, Abdul Gani Hafiz.
Inaugurating the delegate session, Tarigami reminded that human emancipation is not possible unless exploitative system is put an end to. He said that it is imperative for the poor and working class to unitedly fight the menace of these regressive economic policies to get rid of this awkward situation.
He said that people of the country are dismayed over the performance of the Modi Government in last 9 months as nothing on ground has been changed and people continue to face unemployment, price rise, shortage of essential commodities and power cuts.
“Restoration of Article 370 to its original position with regional and sub-regional autonomy within that frame work is of paramount importance and in the best interest of the people of J&K which will lead to the unity in three distinct regions of the State”, he added.
After the inaugural address, the delegate session started with Sham Prasad Kesar presenting the political-organizational report. The report was adopted after through discussion. Resolutions on commercialization and saffronization of education system, FDI in public sector undertakings, land acquisition ordinance, price rise, unemployment and air-lifting of stranded passengers from Jammu were unanimously passed in the conference.
An eleven member regional committee with Sham Prasad Kesar as regional secretary was elected in the conference. The members of the committee are Om Prakash, Kishore Kumar, Banarasi Dass, Sohan Lal, Vikil Vaid, Mohan Lal Raina, Seva Ram, Jagdish Sharma, Muneer Wani and Ramesh Chand.
