SRINAGAR, June 20: Government today said the State has 15798 rural habitations but only 8535 habitations are being provided drinking water at 40 to 55 LPCD.
In a written reply to a question of Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Sofi Yousuf, the Minister incharge PHE, I&FC Department, said the remaining 7263 rural habitations are partially covered with varying supply level of drinking water being provided.
The Minister however said the towns and cities are being provided safe drinking water at 70-135 LPCD. He said 395 slow sand/ rapid sand filtration plants (with conventional technology) are functional in the State.
