UDHAMPUR, Aug 12: Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Police Party of Police Station Chenani today apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 708.4 kg of poppy straw from their possession.
The poppy straw was being smuggled in a truck (PB07BT-3467, which was intercepted during a routine naka checking by a Police team, led by SHO Chenani Pushpinder Singh at Motorshed, National Highway Chenani.
Police seized the poppy straw and arrested the truck driver and his associated, who were identified as Satnam, son of Gian Chand of Hoshiarpur and Sohan Lal, son of Ramnath of Hoshiarpur.
A case FIR number 93/2020, under section 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at PS Chenani and further investigation is underway.
