7 booked after attack on father-son carrying bovines

RAJOURI, Mar 4: The police booked seven persons after they allegedly attacked a 60-year-old man and his son while they were carrying two bovine animals with them near Muradpur late last evening.
Reports said that incident took place at around 8 pm on Thursday when Abdul Ghani and his son Shafiq Ahmed, hailing from Ward No. 10 Rajouri were moving along the road with two bovine animals. Some youth intercepted them and suspecting bovine smugglers started beating up. Their animals were also freed.
Later, police party came to know about the matter and they shifted the injured to the hospital. Today, some people from the other community reached the hospital after coming to know about the matter. SSP Rajouri Rajeshwar Singh sensing trouble reached there and assured them that action under law would be taken against the miscreants and some of them have been identified. He also claimed that seven persons have been booked in this regard and case FIR No. 113/ 2016 has been registered against them. Shafiq was later referred to GMC Hospital Jammu for performing some tests. The victims claimed that they had purchased cattle from the member of other community for Rs 60,000 and they intended to use them for plouging their fields.
In the afternoon, some people held protest on Rajouri Thannamandi Road and also disrupted movement of traffic. They were demanding immediate arrest of the people involved in the attack on father and son. They also alleged that injured Abdul Ghani was not being provided proper treatment. Later, ASP and SHO Rajouri reached there and intervened. The road was then got cleared. They also assured action in this regard.
