6th Marathon Run against drugs organised

UDHAMPUR, June 23: NGO Dogra Kranti Dal organised 6th Marathon Run against drug abuse which commenced from Tikri and concluded at Mand, here today.
Around 300 youth participated in the event.
Expressing deep concern over the increasing of drugs on such fast rate, former MLA and NPP president, Balwant Singh Mankotia, who was chief guest on the occasion said, “To make Udhampur drug free is our prime goal and we are working at grass-root level to achieve this goal by organising such marathons and sports activities”.
He expressed anguish over the spread of ‘Chitta’ named drug among youth, adding that some youngsters have lost their lives by making use of this drug.
Mankotia demanded for the strict action against drug peddlers.
He said the need is to organise awareness campaigns periodically to help youth shun drugs and not to derail from the mainstream.
Later-on, Mankotia felicitated first three winners namely, Pritam Singh, Makhan Verma and Mukesh Kumar with cash prizes of Rs 5,100, 3,100, and 2,100 respectively, while 4th placed Sourav Sharma received Rs 1,100.
