JAMMU, June 11: The 619th Parkash Utsav of Saint Kabir was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety at Sad Guru Kabir Bhawan, Baryal and Tehsil Akhnoor today.
Member Legislative Council (MLC) Sham Lal Bhagat presented floral tribute to the great saint in the function organized by Sad Guru Kabir Sabha, Baryal, Udhampur.
While speaking on the occasion, Bhagat called upon people to follow the teachings of Kabir and take inspiration from his life. He said Kabir always gave importance to work and human values. He preached about humanity and love. The teachings of Kabir brought a ray of hope when the society was passing through a phase of transition.
Earlier, a shobha yatra comprising various jankies was taken out from Venus Chowk, Salan Talab, Chabutra Bazaar, Dabar Chowk, Mukharjee Bazaar, Ramnagar Chowk, Slathia Chowk , Dhar Road, Kallar and finally culminate at Kabir Bhawan, Baryal, where rich tributes was paid to the great spiritual saint.
Meritorious students of the community, who had shown excellent results in school and college examinations, were honored.
Chairman of the Sabha, Ved Parkash highlighted Saint Kabir’s contribution in eradication of social evils from the society.
On the occasion, a satsang by Swami Vijay Bhagat on the life and teachings of Bhagat Kabir was also held.
Ved Parkash, President, Ram Lal Bhagat, Senior Vice President, Chuni Lal, General Secretary, Durga Dass, Youth President, Raj Kumar, Secretary, Kuldeep Kumar, Ranjeet Kumar, members of the sabha, sarpanchs, panchs and representatives of other social and religious organizations besides large number of devotees attended the function.
Under the ages of All India Confederation of SC, ST and OBC Organisations, Unit Akhnoor celebrated Kabir Jayanti at village Dagha and also paid floral tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath who sacrificed his life for the upliftment of downtrodden.
While addressing the gathering, RK Kalsotra, State President of the Confederation, who was the chief guest and Hardutt Saryara, State Secretary of the Confederation expressed their views and threw light on the life of saint Kabir and Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath.
Other who spokes were Tek Chand, Kasturi Lal, Harbans Lal, Daya Ram, Kuldeep Raj and Kalla Ram.
