6 of Corona victim’s family, BDO, another GMC doc among positives

103 test +ve in Jammu, 29 in Ladakh

JAMMU, Aug 10: Six members of a Jhullaka Mohalla family whose one member had succumbed to Coronavirus last week, four of a Digiana family, three BSF personnel from Paloura, another doctor from Surgery Department of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, five personnel of private Railways companies in Ramban, a Block Development Officer (BDO) in Udhampur and an LIC official in Kathua district were among 103 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 today in Jammu region while 90 patients were treated and discharged.

A BDO posted in Chenani tehsil and an Army soldier hailing from village Ladda with travel history of New Delhi tested Corona positive in Udhampur district today.
District Magistrate Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla told the Excelsior that the two COVID positives of the district have been taken for treatment
In Jammu district, 58 persons tested positive for the virus including 20 with no travel history.
A female PG student in Surgery Department of the GMC Jammu hailing from Bishnah tested positive for the virus today. A day before, another PG of same unit of the Department had reported positive.
GMC Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh said the infected doctor has been hospitalized.
Six members of a Jhullaka Mohalla family in the City whose one member had succumbed to the virus last week today reported positive for the virus while four members of a family from Digiana with no travel history also turned positive. Two family members from Patoli with travel history of New Delhi and three BSF jawans from Paloura have reported positive for the virus.
A Regional Collection Centre (RCC) JK Bank staffer has tested positive for COVID-19. A woman who had delivered a baby in Sarwal hospital too tested positive after which the staff members have been isolated for sampling.
Other positive cases of Jammu district were reported from Talab Tillo, Akhnoor, Amb Gharota, Panama Chowk, Gho Manhasan, Channi Himmat, Marh, Miran Sahib, Gangyal, Satwari, Sunjuwan, Paloura, RS Pura, Bagh-e-Bahu, Bakshi Nagar and Barnai.
Sixteen positive cases were reported from Ramban district today including five employees of private companies working for the Railways.
Other positive cases of the district were reported from Tangar Dharamkund, Zaban Nowgam, Doligam and Sawni, according to Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mohammad Fareed Bhat.
Kathua district today recorded eight fresh Corona cases. Two of them were pregnant women from Badwal and Chadwal who were tested for COVID-19 ahead of deliveries. An LIC official also tested positive, Deputy Commissioner Kathua OP Bhagat said.
Other positives of Kathua district were travelers.
Two employees of a private company of Bari Brahamana were among three persons who tested Corona positive in Samba district today, SSP Samba Shakti Pathak said. A resident of West Bengal and a police constable from Srinagar were also infected by the virus in Samba, he added.
Fifth positive of the district was a CRPF jawan from Chhatisgarh.
Two shopkeepers, one Special Police Officer (SPO) and one person whose sample was taken during random testing have reported positive for Coronavirus in Doda district.
Gowari market in Doda district has been sealed after the shopkeepers tested positive for the virus there.
Of three positives in Reasi district, one was a 72-year-old man from Gran Morh and his 32-year-old female kin. The man was admitted in the GMC Jammu. A CISF jawan also reported positive in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, Reasi police station has been closed after positive cases were reported from there yesterday. The police station has been temporarily shifted to Women Cell.
Five travelers tested positive in Rajouri and two in Kishtwar district while Poonch district didn’t report any Corona case today.
With today’s positives, Jammu region’s Corona tally has gone up to 5713 and that of active cases to 1822 as 3856 patients have been treated while there have been 35 casualties.
Ninety patients were today treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals in Jammu region, the maximum 29 being in Jammu district followed by 16 in Doda, 12 Ramban, eight Kishtwar, seven Kathua, five Samba and four each in Reasi and Udhampur districts.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, 29 more Corona positive cases were reported today, all in Leh district taking the UT’s tally to 1717—814 in Leh and 903 in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 471 active cases, 312 in Leh and 159 in Kargil as 1237 patients have been treated and discharged while there have been nine casualties.
