POONCH, Feb 13: The District Administration, Poonch dismantled six concrete structures raised illegally by some people along the river near Sher-e-Kashmir bridge here today.
Official sources said that during 2014 floods, extensive damage was caused to many houses / structures raised by people along Poonch river. The District Administration taking serious note of the issue later asked the people to vacate this area. In many cases, compensation was also provided. But till today, some people even after getting compensation, were not leaving the houses.

Sources said that they had been served notices by the District Administration and Poonch Municipality as well but they remained unmoved.
On the directions of the District Magistrate Poonch today, a team of officials led by Tehsildar Poonch Naresh Kumar, DySP Mudassar Hussain, SHO, Nishant Gupta and AEE Flood Control, Sajjad Choudhary launched operation along with police force and other officials and dismantled six structures belonging to Mohd Arif, Mohd Azeem, Mir Mohd, Mohd Sadiq and others. The team used a JCB and smashed the structures despite resistance by some locals. They also issued notices to four others and asked them to vacate houses within five days.
