UDHAMPUR, Apr 20: Continuing offensive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today recovered consignment of 51 kg of contraband substance(poppy straw) and 8 grams of heroin (chitta) from narcotic smugglers at Jakhani Chowk, Udhampur.
Giving details, Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP Udhampur said that, a police party of Udhampur Ied by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary under the supervision of Sh.Rohit Chadgal, DySP Headquarters Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch Additional SP Udhampur laid a naka at Jakhani Chowk, Udhampur for checking of vehicles.
During naka checking, police party stopped one maruti car bearing registration No. HP 38-3940 which was subjected to thorough search. During search of the vehicle, 51 kg of poppy straw and eight grams of ‘chitta’ (heroin) was recovered from the vehicle. The narcotic smugglers namely Mehraj-ul-Din alias Javid son of Mohd. Ramza R/o Gandoh, Doda and his brother Siraj-ul-Din were arrested on the spot.
The recovered poppy straw and heroin were seized. An associate of accused fled away from the spot with the vehicle.Police team have been deployed to arrest him.
