*PG Deptt JU in Men, GCW Udhampur in Women clinch trophies

JAMMU, Mar 7: The Post Graduate Department of the University of Jammu lifted the overall Championship Trophy in the 46th Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet (M&W) Championship 2023-24 which concluded at University Synthetic Track, here today.
The Championship was organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu. The Men’s Championship was bagged by PG Department of the University of Jammu with 61 points while in the women’s section GCW Udhampur secured the top position with 42 points.
Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Planning, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the closing ceremony of the Championship who along with other dignitaries on the dais awarded the individual medals and trophies to the athletes amidst a large number of gathering of athletes and officials of the participating Colleges, Employees & Students of the University as well as the people from the civil society.
Prof. Meena Sharma appreciated organizers for organizing such types of Sports events, which will provide an opportunity to the students of the Affiliated Colleges of the University of Jammu to come closer to each other besides showing their Sports talent. She also appreciated the mass participation of the athletes and officials accompanying their teams of the colleges.
Ravinder Singh ITO & Vice-President of Amateur Athletic Association of J&K also lauded the efforts and initiatives of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education for organizing these types of activities and involving the young minds towards a healthy life.
Brigadier PS Cheema NCC Group Commander, HQ Jammu also extended his greetings to the organizers for their dedication and efforts in organizing this remarkable event. Earlier, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu presented the formal report of the 46th Annual Inter-Collegiate Athletic Meet.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Hritik Khullar and Aryan Dev Singh whereas a formal vote of thanks was presented by Vimal Kishore, Assistant Professor, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education.
