44 JKP personnel awarded Prez medals

JAMMU, Aug 14: On the occasion of Independence Day, Government today awarded Police Medal for Gallantry Service (PMGS), President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) to 44 personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP).
The PMGS awardees are Sub Inspector (SI) Saqib Bashir Wani, Selection Grade Constable (SgCt) Tariq Ahmad, SgCt Jagjit Singh, DySP Tanweer Ahmed Jeelani, DySP Mohammad Nawaz Khandey, Inspector Irshad Ahmad Reshi, Sub Inspector Salfie Arshid Bhangroo, Constable Vinny Safaya, Sub Inspector Zahoor Ahmad Wani, ASI Faisal Khan, ASI Manzoor Ahmad Mir, SSP Mumtaz Ahmed, DySP Zaheer Abbad, SI Davinder Singh, SgCt Sonam Stobgais, SgCt Mohammad Hussain Wani, SP Tanveer Jeelani, DySP Sajad Ahmad Malik HC Gulzar Hussain Khan, SP Javaid Iqbal, ASI Rakesh Pandita, SI Pankaj Sharma, Inspector Tsewang Namgail, DySP Amit Verma and Constable Shakil-Ur-Rahman.
The PPMDS awardees are Abdul Ghani Mir, Vigilance Commissioner and Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan, SSP Vigilance.
The PMMS awardees are Vinod Kumar Sathu, DySP, Anita Pawar, DySP, Inderjeet Singh, Inspector, Bharat Sharma, SHO Trikuta Nagar, Bashir Ahmad Shah, Inspector, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Inspector, Abdul  Hamid Tantray, Inspector, Bhagwan Dass, Inspector, Qamar Ali Khan, Sub Inspector, Jagdish Singh Jamwal, ASI, Tej Krishan Bhat, ASI, Mohammad Sadiq Mir, HC, Irshad Ahmad Shah, HC, Sudershan Singh, HC, Sadiq Hussain Sheikh, HC and Anaytullah, Inspector.
Meanwhile, three brave bordermen of BSF Frontier Jammu, who laid their life in defending the sanctity of International Border (IB) of the country in Jammu region and made supreme sacrifice in the service to the nation were awarded President Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG) on the occasion of Indepen-dence Day in recognisation of the duties they served.
All the three brave bordermen namely Late Constable Gurnam Singh of RS Pura Jammu, Late Head Constable Jitendra Kumar Singh of Bihar  and Late head Constable Sushil Kumar of Haryana were martyred during fierce cross border firing and shelling on October 21, 23 and 27 2016 respectively, while valiantly fought with enemy and gave befitting reply.
Ram Awtar, IG, BSF Jammu Frontier IG BSF further said that the persons who have received the posthumous medals are hero of Nation and BSF. The bravery shown by them will be always source of inspiration for younger generation. Their sacrifice shall be remembered forever.
