UDHAMPUR, June 10: Intensifying its vigil on the directions of Incharge SSP, Faisal Qureshi, Udhampur Police today foiled a major attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 44 animals by intercepting two trucks at Tikri.
Both the trucks, bearing registration number JK08A – 8858 and JK02W-3567, were on way to Srinagar when they were intercepted by a Police party under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Kulbir Handa.
Noticing the police party, driver of one of the trucks (JK02W- 3567) abandoned his vehicle and fled away from the spot taking advantage of forests. During the checking, 44 bovine animals were found illegally and cruelly loaded in these vehicles.
The accused driver of the vehicle with registration number JK02AE- 5455, identified as Mohd Younis, son of Mohd. Shafi of Chanderkote, Ramban was arrested on spot. Police rescued all the bovine animals and seized both the trucks besides registering a cases in this connection at Police Station Rehambal.
