UDHAMPUR, May 23: Udhampur Police today foiled three separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 40 animals at Chenani and Majalta besides arresting four smugglers in this connection.
Acting on an information through reliable source that one truck bearing registration number JK08A-8858, carrying bovine animals without DM permission, was going towards Srinagar, Chenani Police laid a special naka. Police intercepted the said truck and rescued 14 bovine animals. Police also arrested driver of the truck, namely Sharafat Hussein, son of Noor Hussein of Anantnag and his associate Mohd Rafiq, son of Abdul Aziz of Kathua.
A case FIR Number 50/2018, under Section 188 has been registered in this connection at Police Station Chenani.
Chenani Police also intercepted another truck bearing registration number JK02BG-0498 and rescued 14 more bovine animals. Driver of the truck namely Gulam Mohd, son of Lala Gujjar of Malik Market Jammu along with his associate Sardar Mohd, son of Mohd Mehboob of Ghati Dunga, Kathua, were also arrested by the Police party, led by SHO Chenani Inspector Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of SDPO Chanderjeet Singh.
The accused were carrying bovine animals towards Srinagar with a /tempered DM permission. A case FIR number 51/2018 U/S 420/467/468/471/188 RPC, 3 PC Act has been registered in this regard.
Meanwhile at Majalta, a Police party led by SHO Insp Urfan Parvez under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar, Jagdev Slathia, laid a naka at Battal Morh and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02W 3317. On seeing the Police party, driver parked the vehicle on the roadside and fled away from the spot taking advantage of dense forest.
During the checking, 12 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in this vehicle. All the bovine animals were rescued and the vehicle was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR Number 37/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta and further investigation is going on.
