4 narco smugglers held with heroin, poppy straw

JAMMU, Oct 1: Gadigarh police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested four narcotic smugglers along with heroin and poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gadigarh police post laid a naka at Dharap and signaled an Alto car bearing registration number JK18-9598 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 5.5 grams heroin and 2.5 kilograms poppy straw from four persons traveling in the car and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Adil Hussain Dar, son of Nazir Ahmed Dar, Nazir Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Rehman Dar and Asif Hussain, son of Ghulam Ahmed Dar, trio residents of Qazigund and Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Munshi of Darshopur, Miran Sahib.
During preliminary enquiry, it came to fore that these drugs were to be distributed by the accused to their associates here vis-à-vis consumers.
A case under FIR Number 194/16 under Section 8/15/21/22/29 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Satwari and further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by Incharge Gadigarh police post SI Jasvinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh, SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
