Mom will be role model for women worldwide, says Mehbooba’s daughter

JAMMU: Asserting that PDP chief and new Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti can make a difference, her daughter Itriqa said mom will definitely be a role model for women community across the world. “She had been into active politics for the past two decades and I am sure, she will be a role model for women fraternity watching her across the globe,” said the proud daughter while talking to reporters on the sidelines of oath taking ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. “After grandpa’s (Mufti Sayeed) death it was really hard to come out of it,” Itriqa said. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti today took oath as first women and 13th Chief Minister of the State at a low key function here. Twenty two ministers were also inducted into Ms Mufti’s cabinet.

Terming it a proud moment, Itriqa said, “gender is no issue at all and she has to face the challenges ahead.” “The biggest challenge at the moment for her is to fill up the ‘regional gaps’,” she said. Asserting that her ‘priority is Kashmir’ and she has to work for the people of the State, Itriqa said, “due to turmoil in Jammu and Kashmir since decades, the State is suffering especially the women living in the rural belts. Restrictions were imposed due to militancy and many other factors.” “As a daughter I expect from her that she do her job and make us proud but as a citizen of this State, I expect that she works for the people and make things better vis-a-vis fulfill the promises made to the people.”
