UDHAMPUR, Feb 12: In a major success, Udhampur Police today seized 32 Kg of poppy straw from an inter-state narcotic smuggler, who was intercepted at Motorshed Naka on the National Highway, Chenani.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party, led by SHO Chenani, Insp Paramjeet Singh, under the supervision of Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur and Santokh Raj Deol, SDPO Chenani, laid a naka at Motorshed, NHW, Chenani and intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB11CF- 5953.
During checking, 32 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the said vehicle. The accused driver namely Sarabjeet Singh son of Sukhdev Singh of Ludhiana, Punjab was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle were also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 15/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Chenani and further investigation of the case is going on.
