JAMMU, Oct 12: Thirty-two cueists will compete in the first round of the knock-out stage from tomorrow during the ongoing 1st J&K State Open Six Red Ball Tournament, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA), at Billiards Hall, here.
The cueists, who will compete in the first round of knock-out stage are Abhishek Pathania, Vidit Gawri, Ishuk Chowdhary, Adnan Lone, Jaideep Manocha, Vishal Abrol, Nikhil Kapahi, Abid Bhutt, Younis Kuchey, Mudasir Ashiq, Stabdan, Ishan Chowdhary, Nitin Sharma, Abhishek Goswami, Ankit Gupta, Vipan Malhi, Rohit Sharma, Maqudar Sawhney, Satypreet, Furkan Wani, Avish Sharma, Sahil Arora, Arjun Singh, Akshay Kumar, Rizwan, Sourav Dogra, Aseem Ghai, Aman Chowdhary, Rahil Bhatt, Abhi Gupta and Umar.
Earlier in the first league match on the day-6 of the tournament, Sourav Dogra defeated Mousim Mir by straight 3-0 frames with the score of 36-03, 54-01 and 39-35, whereas in the second match, Rizwan crushed Samarth Amla by 3-1. Rizwan won the first frame by 36-03 and also registered win in the second frame by 31-05. Reeling under extreme pressure of 2-0 frames, Samath bounced back in the game and won the third frame by 30-13, but lost the fourth frame to Rizwan by 34-14.
In the third match, Akshay Kumar beat Kanav Nayyar by 3-2. Kanav made a good start and won the first two frames by 44-12 and 30-3 respectively, but passionate Akshay routed him out by winning the next three frames by 46-15, 42-29 and 41-13.
Aseem Ghai registered win over Maskeerat Singh by straight 3-0 frames in the fourth match with the score of 30-12, 38-16 and 39-17, whereas in the fifth game, Rahil Bhat beat Ankush Sharma by 3-0 and the score was 50-18, 35-20 and 31-01.
In the sixth match, Omar got walkover against Varun, whereas in the seventh match, Abhi Gupta got walkover against Jaswinder.
Aman Choudhary beat Sarath in the eighth match by straight 3-0 frames with the score of 48-11, 28-16 and 44-10, whereas in the ninth match, Aseem Ghai registered win over Nitish Sharma by 3-0 and the score was 42-02, 45-12 and 34-22.
The matches were being held under strict supervision of the JKBSA members and played with the rules and regulations of Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
Rakesh Sharma acted as marker of the tournament.
According to JKBSA spokesperson, last date of entries for Junior and Sub Junior Snooker matches will close on October 14 at 5 pm.
