3 drug peddlers arrested

SRINAGAR, Mar 19: Police today arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of PS Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Beighpora- Gulzarpora Crossing, intercepted a vehicle (Santro) bearing registration number JK13A-8760 driven by Arif Ahmad Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Renzipora, Awantipora.
“During checking, 11 kgs of grinded poppy straw concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his possession,” police said.
He has been arrested and shifted to the police station. “Besides, the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”
In Budgam, a police party at a checkpoint established at Pakherpora Zanigam intercepted a vehicle (Taveera) bearing registration number PB01-9331 with 02 persons onboard.
“They have been identified as Nadeem Ahmad Ganai, son of Abdul Rehman Ganai, resident of Sonpah Beerwah and Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Gh Rasool Mir resident of Waragam Beerwah,” police said.
During the search, 1.2 Kg of poppy straw and 40 grams of Charas powder were recovered from their possession.
They have been arrested and shifted to the Police station.
