3-day young writers’ seminar concludes

JAMMU, July 20: A three day Yuva Lekhak Seminar on the topic “Vartman Yug Aur Sahitya” in Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi languages which was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and supported by Departments of Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi, University of Jammu, concluded today with over-whelming response from students, senior litterateurs and academicians.
On the concluding day, the seminar in Punjabi language was inaugurated by the chief guest S Rangil Singh, former Education Minister, intellectual and Chairman, MBS College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu  and presided over by S Deedar Singh, renowned Punjabi and Hindi writer and former Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar.
Two publications of the Academy in Punjabi were also released by the chief guest along with Dr Anoop Singh, Prof Baljeet Kour of Punjabi Department, University of Jammu and Dr  Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages entitled Monograph on the life and works of Mian Mohammad Baksh and a special ‘ank’ of Sheeraza on the life and works of late Prof Gurcharan Singh Gulshan.
In his presidential address, S Deedar Singh, appreciated the role of the Academy in executing the activities for the development of Art, Culture and Languages. He made a special mention of this activity which may prove beneficial in preparing a second line of the writers’ in the times to come.
Expressing his viewpoint about the seminar, S Rangil Singh expressed his satisfaction over the innovative style of executing work on such serious challenges which may, if handled properly, prove utmost beneficial for creating a section of critics.
In his welcome address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn spoke about  the achievements of JKAACL in terms of this programme and expressed hope that the Academy will receive the same momentum of assistance/blessings from the senior litterateurs, who blessed the new entrants in the seminar and gave a number of pieces of advice to the scholars to enter into the field of literature. Encouraged by the response, he announced that this will be a regular activity and its duration in each languages shall be of two days.
Dr Anoop Singh, from Batala (Punjab), presented a detailed key note address on the topic of the seminar.
The first session was presided over by Dr Baljit Raina, and second session was presided by Prof Nirmal Vinod.
