2710 vehicles challaned, Rs 6.18 lakh fine imposed

JAMMU, Aug 7: In a major drive launched against violations of traffic rules and regulations, Traffic Police today challaned 2710 vehicles and imposed Rs 6.18 lakh worth fine on the violators of law.
The drive was simultaneously conducted in Jammu City and outskirts during the day.
“As many as 2710 vehicles were challaned during the day-long drive, which included commercial, passenger vehicles and two-wheelers. A total of Rs 6,18,450 worth fine was imposed on those violating traffic rules and regulations,” sources said.
Of 2710 challans, 2357 were compounded while 353 were referred to the courts.
The drive was supervised by DySPs Raj Pal Manhas, Sunny Gupta and Dheeraj Singh Katoch besides Inspector of Traffic Police.
The drive would continue, Traffic officials said, adding that the vehicle operators should strict observe the traffic laws to avoid the challans.
