JAMMU, July 26: The 20th anniversary of ‘Operation Vijay’ was celebrated today across Jammu and Kashmir with the theme of “Remember-Rejoice-Renew”.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated by paying rich tributes to martyrs of Kargil war in an imposing wreath laying ceremony at Balidan Stambh Jammu. The wreaths were laid by Brigadier TK Chopra, Deputy General Officer Commanding, Tiger Division at the Eternal Flame of the War Memorial. Veterans and school children also paid tributes to the martyrs. A guard of honour was also presented during the wreath laying ceremony.
20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas was commemorated at Frontier Headquarters BSF Paloura Jammu by paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Kargil war in an imposing wreath laying ceremony at BSF Martyr’s Memorial. On the occasion, IG BSF Jammu Frontier, NS Jamwal paid homage to all martyrs by laying wreath at the memorial. BSF Jammu conducted many commemorative programmes throughout the week.

20th anniversary celebrations of ‘Operation Vijay Diwas’ culminated in Poonch today. The proceedings commenced with a solemn ‘Wreath Laying Ceremony’ at the ‘Naman Sthal’ followed by an interaction with veterans of Poonch Town. The key attendees included the Commander Poonch Brigade, Rahul Yadav, Deputy Commissioner and RK Angral, SSP Poonch. The event was also graced by several soldiers of 2 NAGA (MUSHKOH) who took part in the Kargil War.
On the occasion of “Kargil Viay Diwas”, a motivational lecture cum presentation was conducted at Government Degree Collage, Chhatru, Kishtwar for the youth and students of the region by the Army. A total of 32 students and 26 locals attended the event. The event was culminated by projecting patriotic movie ‘Loc Kargil’ for the students. Display of motivational boards was also carried out in the college premises.
Celebration to mark the 20th anniversary of victory in Kargil war “Operation Vijay” was conducted by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion of Romeo Force at Thanamandi. The events included display of a motivational video giving an insight on Kargil war, motivational lecture by Kargil War Veterans Hony Capt (Retd) Mohammad Basheer and Nk (Retd) Rafiq viz felicitation ceremony. The war veterans shared their experiences of our victory and remembered the martyrs. The event was followed by prize distribution ceremony for the stitching and tailoring course held at Thanamandi. All the 20 students were awarded with certificates and a sewing machine each.
To mark the significance of the Kargil War and to remember the brave hearts who have sacrificed their lives for protecting their country, a war memorial has been established at Advance Landing Ground (ALG), Rajouri. As part of the series of the events being organised to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Kargil Diwas, a ‘Beating Retreat Ceremony’ was organized at War Memorial, ALG.
The Ceremony commenced by remembering the victory of Indian Forces over the adversary wherein a small documentary on ‘Kargil War’ was displayed for all in attendance and everyone remembered the supreme victory of Indian Armed Forces under adverse conditions. Thereafter, the Pipe Band of Indian Army enthralled everyone with their mesmerizing performance. The event ended with the Retreat Ceremony and lighting of candles by locals of Rajouri.
In the run up to the Kargil Vijay Diwas a series of events were organised in the areas of responsibility of Romeo Force. The events were spread over a period of five days from 22 to 26 July 2019. The multifarious activities included motivational lectures, screening of patriotic movies, painting and Drawing Competitions on the theme of nationalism and ‘Run for Fun’ for school and college students conducted at various places in twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri. The celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas culminated with a solemn ceremony held at war memorial of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) where in all ranks of Headquarters paid homage to the martyrs. Officiating General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force, Romeo laid a wreath at the war memorial to honour the sacrifices made by the Indian soldiers during Kargil War.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of victory of Indian Army in Kargil War, Crossed Swords Division of the Indian Army organised a series of events under the theme ‘Remember, Rejoice and Review’. Motivational lectures and painting competitions were conducted at various schools of the Akhnoor and Tanda Garrisons in which the soldiers as well as the school children zealously participated. A wreath laying ceremony was organised at the Warriors’ Grove War Memorial, Akhnoor wherein soldiers, veterans and the GOC, Crossed Swords Division laid wreaths and paid homage.
On occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a lecture was presented on career future in Armed Forces by Colonel Dharmendra Pandey. Principal DS Heartage Scholar School, Barwal Morh Kathua Nagendra Singh Rajwat and School MD Major AS Jasrotia (Retd) were also present on the occasion. A question–answer session was also held wherein Colonel Pandey very convincingly answered all the queries of the students.
To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas, ceremonies to include wreath laying at war memorials and interactions with veteran and youth were organised at Rising Star Corps of Western Command at various places including Yol, Pathankot and Jammu Cantt. Besides this, there were commemoration activities organized in various Army Schools in military stations/Cantonments to include patriotic song, painting and debate competitions on the Kargil Vijay Diwas theme. At Yol a motivational talk by Sub Maj (Hony Capt) Bana Singh, Param Vir Chakra was also organized. Screening of motivational Kargil war movies were also organised at all locations.
20th Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated in District Jammu and a victory parade was organized in District Police Lines Jammu. DIG JKS Range Shri Vivek Gupta took the salute of the parade which was performed by contingents of Police, Paramilitary Forces besides students of different schools.
District Police Samba celebrated the 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas with great fervour and patriotism at District Police Lines, Samba. On the occasion an impressive Parade was held to pay homage to brave hearts of Kargil in which contingents of District Police Samba, IRP- 12th Battalion, Home Guards, Govt. Degree College Samba, GHSS Boys Samba, GHS Balode (Girls) & National High School Samba participated. On the occasion, Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba paid rich tributes to the martyrs while speaking on the significance of the day. Later on, a plantation drive in the premises of DPL Samba was launched by the District Police Samba in collaboration with Forest Department.
J&K Police paid rich tributes to the martyr’s for their supreme sacrifice in Kargil war in DPL Kathua. On the occasion impressive parade was organized by J&K Police in which contingents from Paramilitary Forces, Armed Police, besides students of different schools also participated. SSP Kathua Shridhar Patil unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade.
An impressive parade was organized at DPL Udhampur by J&K Police in which contingents from District Police, Paramilitary Forces, Armed Police, besides students of different schools participated. DIG of Police Udhampur-Reasi Range Sujit Kumar unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade.
District Police Reasi celebrated the Vijay Diwas at DPL Reasi. On the occasion an impressive parade was held to pay homage to brave hearts of Kargil War in which contingents of District Police Reasi, IRP-1st Battalion, CRPF, students of different institutions participated. Additional SP Reasi Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan paid rich tributes to the brave martyrs of Kargil War.
District Police Ramban celebrated Vijay Diwas in DPL Ramban. Impressive Parade was organised in which contingents from Paramilitary forces, Armed Police, besides student of different schools participated. District SSP Anita Sharma unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade. DDC Ramban Showket Ajaz, ADDC Ramban, Additional SP Ramban, ADC Ramban, officers of civil and police, prominent citizens and students were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration commenced with wreath laying ceremony at Chanderkot War Memorial by Commander Rashtriya Rifles Sector, Showkat Aijaz Bhat DC Ramban, Anita Sharma SSP Ramban, JS Johar, SSP National Highway and war veterans. Rashtriya Rifles companies located in the remote lections of District Ramban too celebrated the Kargil Vijay Diwas.
District Police Kishtwar celebrated the 20th anniversary of Kargil War in DPL. A special programme was organized in honour of war martyrs. SSP Shakti K Pathak hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the parade.
To celebrate the 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas, a victory parade was organized in District Police Lines Rajouri. SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas took the salute of the parade which was performed by contingents of police and para military forces. Glowing floral tributes were also paid to the martyrs of Kargil war and their sacrifices for the nation were remembered.
District Police Doda celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas in DPL Doda. On the occasion, a parade was organized by Doda Police in which contingents from CRPF and Armed Police also participated. Parade was commanded by DySP DAR Mansoor Ayaz. SSP Doda Shabir Ahmed Malik unfurl the National Flag and inspected the parade.

On the occasion an impressive parade was held to pay homage to brave hearts of Kargil War in which contingents of District Police Samba, IRP 12th Battalion, Home Guards, GDC Samba, GHSS Boys Samba, GHS Balode (Girls) and National High School Samba participated. SSP Samba Dr Koshal Sharma, Additional SP Samba Faisal Qureshi, all supervisory officers, officers of Forest Department, all SHOs, IC Police Posts of District Samba, students of different Government and private schools were present on the occasion. Later, a plantation drive at the premises of DPL Samba which was organized by the District Police Samba in collaboration with Forest Department.
District Police Poonch held victory parade at DPL Poonch which was participated by contingents of District Police, SSB, CRPF and Armed battalion. SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral took the salute during the victory march from the contingents.
‘Tanda Tiger Force’ porters celebrated 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Akhnoor by paying floral tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War. On the occasion, Veer Naris were present with photographs of their martyr husbands. Among the local gentry present included Manu Khajuria, founder of ‘Voice of Dogra’, India and Overseas, Davinder Singh Kaluria, Chairman General Zorawar Singh Trust, Sunita Sharma, Poonam Sharma, Sat Pal Saraf, KD Singh Jamwal, Dr Haridut Shishu, Dr Ashok Sharma, Er Sukhdev Singh, Narinder Bahu, etc. Porters Kewal Kumar of Billawar, Vijay Kumar of Poonch, Ramesh Kumar and Karan Singh of Udhampur and Vijay Kumar of Jourian spoke on the occasion.
Choudhary Lal Singh, Chairman Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan also paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War.
At District Police Lines Srinagar, 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated with great fervor and patriotism. Dr. Haseeb Mughal, SSP took the salute at the parade. School children and all jurisdictional police officers attended the function.
In Ganderbal, District SSP Khalil Ahmad Poswal took the salute of the Kargil Vijay Diwas victory parade in which contingents of District Police, CRPF and SDRF participated.
Baramulla Police celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas at DPL where M Suliaman Choudhary DIG NKR Baramulla took the salute. The occasion was also attended by Abdul Qayoom SSP Baramulla and other officers of District Police Baramulla. The contingents of CRPF, SSB, JKP and Home Guard participated in the parade.
In Bandipora, Police celebrated the day at DPL Bandipora. SSP Bandipora Rahul Malik along with senior officers from police and paramilitary forces paid floral tributes and took salute at the parade. Cultural programme and patriotic songs followed the march past to remember the war heroes.
At Sopore, Vijay Diwas was celebrated at DPL Sopore during which SSP Sopore Javaid Iqbal took the salute at the march past by contingents of Police and CRPF.
In DPL Budgam, an impressive march past was presented by the contingents of police and paramilitary forces. SSP Budgam Chandan Kholi unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade. Rich tributes were paid to the brave martyrs of Kargil War.
Kargil Vijay Divas was also celebrated at DPL Handwara. SP Handwara Ashish Mishra took salute at the parade. District Police along with school children participated in the parade.
At Shopian, celebration of Vijay Divas was held at DPL Shopian. On the occasion, SSP Shopian Sandeep Chaudhary took the salute from the contingents of the impressive parade.
At Awantipora, the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, ITBP, and school children participated in the Vijay Diwas Parade. SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem along with the officers of the Army, CRPF, ITBP and Civil Administration paid tributes to the Kargil Heroes.
In Anantnag, 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Divas was celebrated at DPL, where SSP Altaf Ahmad Khan took salute from the parade comprising contingents of District Police/(JKP/JKAP) and students of different schools.
In DPL Kulgam, an impressive parade was presented by the contingents of SSB and J&K Police. SSP Kulgam Gurinderpal Singh unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade. Rich tributes were paid to the brave martyrs of Kargil War.
Kupwara Police celebrated the Vijay Diwas at DPL Kupwara. SSP Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar took salute from the parade. On this occasion senior officers of Police, Army and CAPF were present.
To celebrate the 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas, victory parade was held at DPL Leh which was participated by 5 contingents of District Police Leh and IR 25th Battalion. SSP Leh Sargun Shukla took the salute and paid rich tributes to the martyrs. A symposium on the topic “Recognition of courage and valour in India” was also organized which was participated by students of JNV and CIBS Choglamsar. Later, certificates were presented to the participants of the symposium.
Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS) J&K Chapter organized a seminar to pay tributes to martyrs and to commemorate the victory of Indian Armed forces over Pakistan on 26 July 2019 at Teachers Bhawan here. In the seminar, Indresh Kumar, Member All India Working Committee RSS and Margdarshak FANS was the main speaker while Dr Nirmal Singh Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly was the chief guest. Air Marshal Dr RC Bajpai PVSM AVSM (Read) National President FANS, Prof Laxmikanta Chawla, Former Cabinet Minister Punjab and an eminent social activist and Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation were the guests of honour. Major General SK Sharma AVSM (Retd) President FANS J&K chapter welcomed all the participants and the guests. The forum also remembered and honoured the families of the martyrs who had laid down their lives and attained martyrdom while serving the mother land. Fifteen families of the martyrs were honoured and the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs was saluted by the gathering present. Besides FANS, the other organizations who contributed in organizing in the event included Muslim Rashtriya Manch, Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch, World Women Awakening Organization and Himalaya Parivar J&K. Those who graced the occasion included Prof KL Bhatia, Patron, FANS J&K and Vice Presidents of FANS J&K Heena Bhat, Member Khadi Board, Lalit Aggarwal, Industrialist. Former IGP Vijay Singh Sambyal, Abhinav Sharma Advocate President J&K High Court Bar Association, etc. The proceedings of the seminar were conducted by Advocate Prem Sadotra General Secretary FANS and Gourav Jamwal Advocate, while the vote of thanks was presented by Vijay Singh Sambyal, Vice President FANS.
Tributes were paid to the heroes of Kargil war in a function organized by BJP’s Jammu West District. Former Minister and Ex-MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma along with other senior leaders including District President Ayodhya Gupta, Corporators Sanjay Baru, Surinder Sharma, Dr Akshay Sharma, Sunita Gupta, Sangathan Mantri Mohan Singh Rana, Mandal President Vijay Sharma and others paid tributes to the martyrs.
While paying tributes to Kargil martyrs and to commemorate 20 years of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, Raman Suri, State Executive Member, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that grit and valour of soldiers who defended the icy heights of Kargil have been imprinted on the hearts and minds of people of India who will never forget the sacrifices made by sons of soil in defending country’s borders.
Congress celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas at Gangyal with enthusiasm. Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on the occasion remembered Indian army martyrs and paid rich tributes to them. The programme was organized by Block President and PCC member Satish Sharma and attended by Corporator Dwarka Choudhary, Corporator Pritam Singh, Ex Sarpanch Shamsher Singh, Sita Ram, Baldev Singh Wazir and many others.
The veterans under the banner of J&K Ex-Services League celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas by remembering all those who attained martyrdom in Kargil war in the year 1999. The martyrs of Kargil War were remembered today by the League led by its President, Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal. Veterans of the League also conveyed their felicitations to Lt Col Punjab Singh Aithmia on his 100th birth centenary. Lt Col Rajinder Singh Katoch, Col Varinder Kumar Sahi, Lt Col KS Samyal, Col Rajinder Singh (General Secretary JKESL), Lt Col DS Salaria, Lt Col RL Raina, Col Sukhdev Singh Aithmia, Lt Col Iqbal Singh, Lt Col RL Manotra, Capt Yudhvir Singh Chib and many others were present on the occasion.
To pay tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War and to commemorate 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Jammu West Assembly Movement held anti-Pak protest. The protest was led by President of the Movement Sunil Dimple.
Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC), J&K paid glory tributes to Kargil Martyrs on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In the convention held here, Sitaram Lamaba IYC General Secretary and in-Charge J&K State and State President JKPYC, Uday Chib along with party workers remembered all the martyrs and termed that the Indian Army is the best army in the world.
To pay tribute to soldiers and to felicitate the Veer Naris on 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas, a programme was held by Sainik Welfare Department at Red Cross Bhawan Kachhi Chawni. Speaker Dr Nirmal Singh, graced the occasion as chief guest and Mamta Singh was the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Hav Satish Kumar, Vir Chakra narrated his experience of Kargil Battle with nostalgia. Honorary Secretary Red Cross Jammu Dr Dinesh Gupta assured all help to Sainik Welfare Department. Brigadier Harcharan Singh informed that Rotary Club Elite Jammu has taken up initiative to become part of “Soldiers Family” by adopting close to 40 martyrs families. Abha Gupta, a Rotarian, has made liaison with “Narayana Tutorials” to provide free tuitions to children of martyrs. Dr Rashid Choudhary of Narayana Tutorials was felicitated for the noble initiative of offering free classes to children of martyrs. Vote of thanks was presented by Colonel Rawel Singh ZSWO Jammu. The stage was managed by Ravikant from Radio Kashmir Jammu. Pooja Malhotra President Rotary Elite, Paramjit Kaur, Meena Jaggi, Gurvinder Kaur, Sangeeta and other members of the Rotary Elite were also present on the occasion.
A function was held here, wherein Hoshiar Singh, Congress Leader and JKPCC Member and others paid rich floral tributes to martyrs. Among others present were Jankar Singh, Major Kulbir Singh, Karan Singh, Ramesh Kumar, Bobby Kumar, etc.
Paying homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives to retrieve the Indian Territory in Kargil and inflicting a crushing defeat to the Pakistan forces during Kargil War, JKPCC Spokesman Ravinder Sharma has saluted those who were martyred in this war for the sake of nation.
Dogra Educational Trust, Bari Brahmana organized Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration to commemorate the victory of Indian Armed Forces over intruder Pakistani Army in the year 1999. The function was presided over by Gulchain Singh Charak Former Minister, President Dogra Sadar Sabha and Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust. Colonel Dharmendra Panday, Commanding Officer, J&K Armed Squadron NCC was present during the function. Students participated with enthusiasm and sang patriotic songs. On the occasion, Charak announced a scholarship scheme for the wards of war widows and martyrs.
National Cadet Corps (NCC) Infantry Wing of Government MAM College Jammu organized a weeklong celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas which concluded today. The welcome address was presented by SUO Sachit Karloopia. On the occasion, Colonel Sukhbir Singh Assla, Commanding Officer of the 2 J&K Boys Battalion NCC Jammu was the chief guest. War heroes of Kargil War Sub Major Deepak Singh and Retd Rifle man Kuldeep Singh, both belonging to 13 JAK Rifle were special guests. Major Dr Karan Singh, Associate Professor and NCC Officer of the college presented the report of the week long activities conducted by the NCC cadets. The War heroes were presented mementos by Prof Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul Convener IQAC of the college as a mark of respect. Prof. Devinder Sharma Assistant Dean Cluster University of Jammu presented his views and explained the meaning of the martyrdom.
Indian Army organized a motivational lecture and interaction session at GDC Mendhar to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The event encompasses interaction session between students and veterans of Operation Vijay and movies showcasing the sacrifices made by gallant soldiers during the operation.
Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated by NCC cadets of GGM Science College Jammu under the guidance of Prof Fraz Ahmed Chauhan (CT ANO). Both boys and girls units participated in the event. The programme started with a lecture by Prof. Fraz Ahmed Chauhan who briefed the cadets about Operation Vijay and Kargil Vijay Diwas. The chief guest of the event was Principal of the College Dr SPS. Saraswat. Vice Principal of the college Prof Mohinder Singh and Dr Samriti Aggarwal, Associate Professor Zoology were also present on the occasion.
Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated by NCC SD and SW unit of GDC Bhaderwah. More than 120 cadets took part in the programme. Prof Devinder Kumar Principal of the college was the chief guest and Ex Hawaldar Ghulam Qadir of 12 JKLI was special guest. A grand and colorful programme was presented by the cadets of NCC and a tribute was paid to the martyrs of Kargil war.
The three NCC units of GDC Kathua, 2nd J&K Girls Battalion, 1st J&K Armd Sqn and 1st J&K NCC naval wing celebrated 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The day was observed under the guidance of Principal GDC, Kathua, Prof. Dr Koushal Samotra and supervision of ANO Dr Manohar Lal (Naval Wing) ANO Prof Sandeep Choudhary (Boys NCC), and ANO Dr Rachna Devi (Girls NCC). On this occasion NCC cadets participated in special parade, poster making competition and delivered speech to honour the Kargil War heroes.
Two days programme was conducted by NCC and NSS wing of Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The first day’s activity was Poster Making Competition on the theme “Kargil Vijay Diwas”. Inspirational video clips were shown which were followed by motivational lectures by some of the participants on the second day of the programme. The programme concluded with the prize distribution. Prof Minnie Sharma, Principal was also present. Prof Irvinder Kour and Prof Suman Bala were the jury members.
Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated in the premises of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Reasi under the guidance of Principal Amreesh Kumar Kotwal. Rakesh Chobber Lecturer, Annie Raghuvanshi NCC Officer and NCC cadet Nittu of class 10th spoken regarding Kargil Vijay Diwas and two patriotic songs were sung by the students and the NCC cadets.
To pay tribute to the martyrs of Kargil War Heroes on the 20th Anniversary, Army Public School Akhnoor organized Inter School Painting Competition with theme “Tribute to War Heroes” under the aegis of Cross Swords Division. Students from various schools participated in the competition. In Senior Category, first prize was grabbed by Yanvi Sharma of APS Akhnoor, second prize was shared by Vismay Kamath of APS Rakhmuthi and Y Swati of KV 2 Akhnoor, while the third prize was bagged by Enu Sharma of DCM Public School Akhnoor. Consolation prizes were presented to Jannat Perween of Government Higher Secondary School Akhnoor and Karan Kumar of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Akhnoor. In junior category, first prize was grabbed by Shrushti of APS Akhnoor, second prize by Deepika Bhagat of RMG Public School Akhnoor and third prize by Anish Singh Manhas of APS Rakhmuthi. Consolation prizes were presented to Anshdeep of St Francis Senior Secondary School Akhnoor and Mansi Sharma Government Middle School Ghar Bhardha. In Sub-Junior Category, first prize was grabbed by Abhishee Gupta of APS Rakhmuthi, second prize by Pratham Chaudhary of DCM Public School Akhnoor and third prize by Madhav Dubey of KV 2 Akhnoor. Consolation prizes were presented to Kiran Devi APS Akhnoor and Alina Singh of Shubh Memorial School Akhnoor. Prizes were distributed by Colonel Ravi Ranjan, Lt Col Aatif Momin, Principal KCS Mehta and Vice-Principal Rakash Chander.
Delhi Public School Udhampur celebrated 20th Kargil Diwas by conducting a special assembly in the school premises. The day begin with prodigious speech by tiny tot explaining the sacrifices, heroic deeds of our soldiers, students of senior wing also delivered a heart full speech giving detail information of valorous act of our warriors. A musical performance by students and teachers was enough to evoke the feelings of nationalism and patriotism amongst spectators to add the pinch of fidelity. Rattan, Head of Admin Block of the school shared his experience of this significant event as he had witnessed this august episode and was the part of Kargil war.
Students of Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana went to Balidan Stambh to pay homage to the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives while fighting the Pak intruders. The 22 Jat Regiment of Indian Army put on an impressive show during the wreath laying ceremony to rekindle the pride and valour of the soldiers who took part in Operation Vijay. Captain Vikram Batra, the hero of the war was remembered through an emotional skit. Children commemorated the victory by singing a patriotic song composed by the music teacher Padam. Principal Anita Bhatia lit candles to honour the martyrs of the Kargil war.
Doon International School Jammu celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. A special assembly was conducted by the students of class 4th and 5th dressed up as soldiers displaying the colours of patriotism and the spirit of bravery. Students presented a melodious group song depicting the emotions of love, respect and faith in the armed forces of our country. Principal, Dr Vikesh Kaur addressed the students and threw light on the importance of the day.
Kargil Vijay Diwas observed at Primary School Ikhni in which students of adjoining PS Gool along with teachers participated as per the guidelines of Nirmal Choudhary CEO Reasi, MH Khan ZEO Pouni and PD Bali ZEPO Pouni. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma Headmaster of the institution threw a brief light on the historical significance of the day. Bachittar Singh, a local veteran and a warrior in 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars was the chief guest on the occasion.
Parmaarth: Service Before Self visited the orphanage Bal Gran situated at Channi Rama to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The Parmaarthis along with the children of the orphanage sung the National Anthem with pride and raised the slogan of “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. Lectures were given by two of the volunteers of the Trust, Rahul Sharma and Ashutosh Khanna which filled the children with enthusiasm and patriotism.
On 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, 11 cyclists of Udhampur based cyclist group UB RANDONNEURS took out a cycle flag rally from Udhampur town to Kargil Vijay Park in Chinar, Udhampur. The cyclists included Super Randonneurs (SR) Mineesh Gulati, SR Rajan Malhotra, SR Rahil Gupta And Randonneurs Amit Mahi, Tony Harpreet singh,Rocket Pradeep kumar, Rohit Gupta, Rajat Kumar, Abhimanyu, Rahul and ultra runner Pritam.
Welfare Society Guru Nanak Nagar Jammu on occasion of Vijay Divas paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War. Balwinder Singh Rinku President of the Society, Advocate AS Khera, Chairman, Ajay Mahajan Vice President, Hardeep Singh Vice President, Pawan Sharma Vice President and many others were present on the occasion.
Ex-Servicemen Welfare Society celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas at Shaheedi Chowk Kathua. The members of the society paid tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War. Deputy Commissi-oner Dr Raghav Langar was chief guest on the occasion, while Raghubir Singh, Anchal Singh, Capt Gian Singh Pathania, Balkar Singh, Bishan Singh and many others were also present on the occasion.
Government Girls High School Chak Malal celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas. On the occasion, Headmaster of the institution Suversha Kumari distributed uniforms among students. Present on the occasion were Ajit Kumar, Deepak Lal, Surjeet Singh, Surinder Sharma and Sanjeev Kumar.
