Rajouri, May 26: The police in Rajouri rescued 20 cattle and seized two vehicles while foiling a bovine smuggling bid in Chatyari-Chingus area of Rajouri today.
Official sources said that during wee hours on Friday, two goods carriers/ vehicles coming from Nowshera side towards Rajouri via link road Chatyari were intercepted at Sawni by police party of Police Post Chingus.
The police party signaled the vehicle for checking but the drivers of the both vehicles jumped out and fled away from the spot leaving behind the vehicles.
On checking vehicles No. JK11E – 5172 was found loaded with 11 bovine animals while vehicle bearing registration number JK11D-8193, loaded with 09 bovines.
Both the vehicles have been seized and animals rescued. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
