2 women IAS, KAS officers, 3 docs among 94 test Corona +ve in Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 8: Two women officers, including an IAS and a KAS, three doctors two of whom were posted in the Government Medical College (GMC) and SMGS Hospital Jammu, 10 SSB jawans of 71 battalion deployed at Bawe Talab near Kanachak, five persons from RS Pura, four from Hazuri Bagh near Domana, three from Lower Roop Nagar and two from Shakti Nagar were among 94 persons who tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu region while 181 patients were treated and discharged from various COVID hospitals today.
In Jammu district, 44 Corona positive cases were reported, 24 of whom had no travel history.
A woman IAS officer posted in the Power Development Department tested positive for COVID-19 in Rapid Antigen Test at Gandhi Nagar hospital this afternoon.

A woman KAS officer, who is resident of Karan Nagar and posted as BDO in Samba district, tested positive for the virus in RT-PCR test. She was subjected to testing as her husband, who is Manager in Jammu and Kashmir Bank, had tested positive earlier.
A 26-year-old Post Graduate doctor hailing from Billawar and posted in Surgery Department of the GMC Jammu, a female 28-year-old doctor from Nanak Nagar posted in Gynaecology Department of SMGS hospital and 31-year-old doctor from Digiana today tested positive for the virus.
GMC Jammu Medical Superintendent Dr Dara Singh told the Excelsior that the doctors have been shifted to COVID hospitals for treatment. All of them were asymptomatic.
Ten jawans of SSB’s 71st battalion headquartered at Bawe Talab near Kanachak today reported positive for the virus. All of them are residents of Bihar and had returned after availing leave. They have been shifted to Yatri Niwas Canal Road. SHO Kanachak Inspector Ravi Parihar visited the spot.
Five Corona positive cases were today reported from RS Pura, four from Hazuri Bagh near Domana, three from Lower Roop Nagar and two from Shakti Nagar.
Other positives of Jammu district include 22-year-old girl from Camp Gole Gujral, 25-year-old youth from Resham Ghar, 23-year-old girl from Talab Tillo, middle-aged man from Bantalab, teenager from Akhnoor, 44-year-old from Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh who is working here, 42-year-old from Channi Himmat, 50-year-old woman from Gandhi Nagar, 49-year-old from Khour, middle-aged man from Gandhi Nagar, teenage girl from Ambphalla, middle-aged man from Sainik Colony, an elderly woman from Roop Nagar, a senior citizen from Parade Ground, 68-year-old man from Mishriwalla, middle-aged man from Bishnah, youth from Smailpur, teenager from Janipura and 40-year-old from Trikuta Nagar.
Over a dozen security personnel also tested positive in Jammu district.
The Microbiology Department of the GMC Jammu is conducting 2500 RT-PCR tests in a day on an average while IIIM Jammu today did 550 tests under the command of HoD Dr Shashi S Sudhan.
In Udhampur district, 278 more persons were tested for COVID-19 in Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKAP), a Red Zone, and one person hailing from Billawar, who works at a Medical shop, was tested positive, District Magistrate Dr Piyush Singla said.
Yesterday, 23 police personnel had reported positive in the SKPA including 22 Probationary Sub Inspectors and a constable. Prior to that, 13 PSIs had tested positive.
Three BSF jawans, a police constable and an Army soldier were among 16 persons who reported positive for COVID-19 in Poonch district today, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said.
Four positives of Poonch hailed from Khanetar including two shopkeepers, one police constable and a traveler, four from Surankote, all travelers and four from Mendhar-three BSF jawans and an Army personnel.
Fifteen persons were infected by the virus in Kathua district today. Of them, 11 were contacts of positive persons and four travelers.
Seven persons were reported positive for the virus in Samba district including 42-year-old-woman from Ward No. 6 Vijaypur, who happened to be contact of positive person and a resident of Ghaziabad Uttar Pradesh who was putting up at Bari Brahmana. Rest of the positives of the district hailed from Sumb Road, Pangdour Samba and Trindia Ramgarh.
SSP Samba Shakti Pathak said all of them were under administrative quarantine and have been shifted to COVID facilities.
Two each personnel from CRPF and JKP, who had returned to duty after availing leave, tested positive for Coronavirus in Kishtwar district, Deputy Commissioner Rajinder Singh Tara said.
Five persons tested positive in Ramban district including four during random sampling at Banihal and one from Red Zone of Chandrog, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Mohammad Fareed Bhat said.
Two persons including a JKP head constable and a civilian traveler reported positive for the virus in Reasi district. An equal number of persons reported positive in Rajouri while Doda district didn’t report any Corona positive case today.
As many as 181 Corona patients were today discharged from various COVID hospitals in Jammu region after testing negative.
Of them, 43 patients were discharged in Jammu district, 27 in Kathua, 24 Rajouri, 21 Ramban, 19 Samba, 18 Doda, 12 Poonch, seven each in Reasi and Kishtwar and three in Udhampur district.
As per the official figures, Jammu region now has 5482 Corona cases including 1756 active as 3692 patients have been treated and discharged while there have been 34 casualties related to the virus.
Meanwhile, complete lockdown was today observed in five districts of Jammu region including Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri and Reasi.
The lockdown was voluntarily as majority of people stayed indoors. Only few people were seen on the streets for emergency services. Police didn’t have to make much effort to enforce the lockdown.
The Union Territory of Ladakh reported 25 fresh Corona cases today including 18 in Leh and seven in Kargil district.
With this, Ladakh UT now has 1639 Corona cases—778 in Leh and 861 in Kargil and 416 active cases, 298 of them in Leh and 118 in Kargil.
As many as 1214 patients have recovered in Ladakh—475 in Leh and 739 in Kargil while there have been nine casualties.
