JAMMU, Feb 2: Two illegally operating saw mills were dismantled by a team of Forest officials in Jindrah area of Jammu Forest Division today.
Official sources said that a team led by Range Officer (RO) Jindrah, Ghulam Qadir, under the supervision of Dr V S Senthil Kumar (IFS) along with other staff smashed two saw mills at village Kah Pota, falling under Jindrah Range of Jammu Forest Division.
As per the directions of Supreme Court of India and SRO 103 of 2012 of Jammu and Kashmir Wood Based Industries (Registration & Regulations) Rules, no primary saw mill can be allowed to operate within 8 kms from the demarcated forest and for secondary saw mill it can not be allowed within 3 kms from the demarcated forest.
The team found that the owner of the saw mills had violated the SRO 103 and set up the saw mills illegally and accordingly these were dismantled and their parts seized. The confiscation proceedings in the court of DFO Jammu have been initiated.
