Lawyers protest suspend work

SAMBA, June 11: The lawyers suspended work after their colleague was injured during clash between two rival groups in the district court complex here today.
The police said the incident took place when members of two rival groups had gone to the court in connection with a case pertaining to land dispute on the given date today. Ravi Kumar, son of Madan Mohan of Nagrota and Suram Singh, son of Chanchal Singh of Channi Rama, Jammu had heated exchanges with the members of the rival party in the court complex.
It was followed by scuffle between them. They allegedly threatened Advocate Rahul Singh of the rival party and asked him to stay away from the case. During the clash Rahul Singh of Kheri Mandi also sustained injuries. The police party in the court premises rushed there and over powered both Ravi and Suram. A pistol which one of them had taken out during the clash, was also snatched.
The injured lawyer was shifted to hospital. The Samba Bar members then suspend work against the incident and demanded security for the lawyers in the court premises. They also demanded that proper checking be done at the main entrance of the court complex.
SSP Samba Israr Khan when contacted said that both the accused have been arrested. A loaded licensed weapon was also seized from their possession. He said that matter pertains to land dispute and both the parties after a tiff were involved in the clash. A case FIR No. 108/2012 has been registered in this connection.
